Here is a general Description of the Process Classificaiton Framework -PCF- written by the APQC.

The PCF represents a series of interrelated processes that are sociotechnical in nature, are business critical, and represent six major dimensions of the organization: knowledge communities/functions, processes, content, marketplaces, culture, and organizational structure. The PCF enables organizations to understand their inner workings from a horizontal process viewpoint, rather than a vertical functional viewpoint. While the PCF does not list all processes within a specific organization, every process listed in the framework is not present in every organization
